Mariner High School Silver Magic Band: News

Thank you to everyone who made the Winter Concert a success! Thank you for supporting our band program!

We will resume normal rehearsals immediately following the Winter Break on Monday, January 5, 2009.

Wind Ensemble 3-5pm Mondays
Concert Band 3-5pm Tuesdays

We will be preparing for FBA District Solo and Ensemble on February 6-7 and District Concert Band MPA in March. If the band receives a superior rating they will qualify to perform for the State Concert Band MPA at North Port HS in April.

The Winter Concert is fast approaching! Please review the schedule below for all rehearsal dates and times. Percussionists are required to attend the rehearsals on Monday 12/15.

CONCERT DRESS:

Gentlemen - Black dress shirt, black dress pants, black socks, black dress shoes, holiday ties and Santa hats are permitted

Ladies - Black dress shirt (3/4 length or longer), black pants or full length skirt/dress, black dress shoes (close toe preferred), Santa hats are permitted

The Winter concert will be on Tuesday, December 16 at 7pm.

Congratulations to the Silver Magic Marching Band for the successful completion of the 2008 marching season!

The band came in 8th place out of 23 bands in the competitive AA division semi-finals.

Thank you to all the students and parents that made this season a success!

FMBC State is only days away. Please come to rehearsals focused and prepared to work.

Please make sure that you turn in your payment for State.

Reminder: IF YOU HAVE A BUSCH GARDENS SEASON PASS MAKE SURE YOU PACK IT! If you forget it, you will need to pay full price to get a ticket on Sunday.

Congratulations to everyone on a job well done at the POC! Thank you to all the parent and student volunteers who made this event run smoothly. Congratulations to the band on a great performance. In the final two weeks of the 2008 marching band season we have a lot of work to do. Please make sure to check the schedule below and make plans accordingly. It is imperative that everyone is at every rehearsal.

Amanda DeCastro and Ian Clarey

for being selected to participate in the 2008 Tri-State Band Festival at FSU. They have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with students from Florida, Georgia and Alabama with guest conductors on December 4-7.

Parents, while your child is attending marching practice on Monday, please come out to help Mrs. Yoho in planning for the Preview of Champions. This is the marching competition that is hosted by our band! It takes a lot of work from many parents for this competition to run smoothly for our guest bands. Please come be a part of planning for this great event!

Congratulations to the Silver Magic Marching Band for earning 2nd place at the North Port "Music on the Move" competition, and Percussion for earning 1st place percussion overall. For our first competition of the season, the band performed well. There is still much work to be done, but we are on our way!
